Random Letter Generator With No Repeats
Each letter comes out once and stays out until you reset. Deal the alphabet one letter at a time or shuffle all 26 into a new order.
Alphabet Deck: Draw Without Replacement
Think of it as 26 cards, one per letter. Each draw removes a card from the deck, so no letter can turn up twice until you reshuffle.
26 letters left in the deck.

Why Ordinary Random Letters Repeat So Often
In a normal draw, repeats come up sooner than most people expect.
When every draw uses the full alphabet, a repeat is likely within just a few letters. By 7 letters, a repeat is more likely than not. This is the same maths as the birthday paradox, just with 26 letters instead of 365 days.
Turning repeats off changes the method. Each drawn letter is removed from the pool, so the pool gets one smaller on each draw. This is called sampling without replacement, and it works like dealing cards from a shuffled deck.
| Letters drawn | Chance of a repeat | With no-repeat mode |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 11.2% | 0% |
| 5 | 33.6% | 0% |
| 6 | 46.3% | 0% |
| 7 | 58.7% | 0% |
| 8 | 69.8% | 0% |
| 10 | 86.3% | 0% |

Deal One at a Time or Draw a Whole Batch
The alphabet deck above is for draws that happen over time: calling a letter each round, picking the next student, or assigning a letter per turn. It remembers what has already been drawn and shows the letters that are left.
The batch generator below is for getting several unique letters at once. Pick a count up to 26, and each letter in the result is different. If you ask for more letters than the pool holds, for example 10 unique vowels, the tool tells you instead of quietly repeating one.
- Fair turn order: Give each player a letter, deal the deck, and play in the order the letters come out.
- Letter-a-day activities: Draw one letter per session and cover the whole alphabet in 26 sessions with no gaps or doubles.
- Unique codes: Draw 4 unique letters for short labels that are easy to tell apart.
- Quiz rounds: Make sure no letter category comes up twice in one game.
Shuffling All 26 Letters
The "Shuffle all 26" button puts the whole alphabet in a random order using the Fisher-Yates shuffle, where every possible order is equally likely. There are 26 factorial possible orders, about 4 × 10²⁶. That is so many that you will almost certainly never see the same order twice.

No Repeats Letter Generator Questions
How do I stop letters from repeating?
Use the alphabet deck, which never repeats until you reset it, or untick "Allow repeated letters" in the batch generator.
What is the most unique letters I can draw?
With the full alphabet, 26. If you exclude letters or pick vowels only, the limit drops to however many letters are left in the pool, so 5 for vowels only.
What happens when the deck runs out?
Once all 26 letters are drawn, the deck says so and the draw button stops. Press Reset deck to put all 26 letters back.
Is a no-repeat draw still random?
Yes. Each draw is equally likely to be any letter still in the deck. The only difference is that letters already drawn cannot come up again.
Does the deck remember my letters if I reload the page?
No. The deck lives in the page only, so reloading starts a fresh 26-letter deck.
Can I shuffle only some letters?
Yes. In the batch generator, type the letters you want to leave out in the exclude box, turn repeats off, and set the count to the number of letters left.
